Luxury That Feels Like Home: Why The Hillside Estate Is Worth Every Bride’s Attention

When couples start their venue search, they often feel like they have to choose: do we want something elegant and upscale, or do we want something warm and intimate? As if those two things can’t exist in the same room.

I’m here to tell you they can. I’ve seen it firsthand.

Alyssa and Coleton’s October Wedding

I had the joy of photographing Alyssa and Coleton’s wedding at The Hillside Estate in October of 2024, and it’s a day I still think about. Their vision was deeply family-oriented and they wanted their loved ones close, the atmosphere warm, and the day to feel like a celebration that was truly theirs. Not overdone. Not stuffy. Just beautiful, intentional, and full of the people who mattered most.

The Hillside Estate delivered all of that and then some. Walking into this venue, you immediately feel the luxury, the chandeliers, the floor-to-ceiling windows, the impeccable details around every corner. But what struck me most was that it never felt out of reach. It felt luxurious and intimate at the same time. Clean and bright without being cold. Grand without being overwhelming. For a couple like Alyssa and Coleton who wanted elegance rooted in warmth, it was the perfect match.

And that hilltop location? The estate sits on 16 acres of rolling hills with views of the valley and lake below. The scenery alone took my breath away, and from behind the camera, it gave us images that didn’t need a single thing added to feel complete.

A Venue Built by a Family, for Families

One of the things I love most about The Hillside Estate is how it came to be. This isn’t a corporate-owned property or a converted event hall. It started with Josh and Brittney, a couple who went through their own wedding planning journey and dreamed of creating something better. What began as a conversation turned into a year of searching for the perfect land and two more years of designing and building, all with one clear intention: to create a space that felt like an escape from the typical wedding world.

Their family agreed from the beginning that this would be a place where the staff was always friendly and inviting, where couples felt at home, and where every vendor who walked through the door felt the excitement of being part of something meaningful. The estate was founded on their family’s core values: dedication, compassion, having fun, and loving one another. You can feel that in every interaction, from your first tour to the last dance.

That’s the kind of detail worth knowing before you sign a contract anywhere. Who built this place, and why? At The Hillside Estate, the answer is a family who wanted every couple to have the experience they wished they’d had.

What Makes It Special from a Photographer’s Perspective

I could talk about this venue all day from a photography standpoint. The 17,000-square-foot estate is filled with natural light! Those walls of windows in the chapel and the Great Hall mean your photos have gorgeous, soft light no matter the time of day or the weather. That’s not something you can fake in editing, and it makes an enormous difference in how your images feel.

The bridal suite is a dream. Beautiful décor, natural light, plenty of space for your whole party, and a stage to unveil your dress. It’s designed for real moments to happen, and those are the moments that make the best photographs. The groom’s suite is equally well thought out, which isn’t always the case, and I appreciate a venue that gives both sides of the wedding party an experience worth remembering.

Then there’s the outdoor space. The courtyard with its string lights, the garden ceremony site nestled among the trees, the hilltop views that stretch out behind you, every corner of this property offers something worth capturing.

The Takeaway for Your Venue Search

Alyssa and Coleton’s wedding reminded me of something I tell every couple: the right venue doesn’t ask you to sacrifice one thing for another. You don’t have to trade luxury for intimacy or elegance for warmth. The Hillside Estate proves that you can walk into a space that takes your breath away and still feel completely at home.

If you’re in the middle of your search and you haven’t visited The Hillside Estate yet, I’d encourage you to book a tour. Bring your partner, bring your mom, and see how it feels to stand in a space that was built with your experience in mind by a family who genuinely cares about making your day extraordinary.
